Useful Tip: Most vehicles have a recirculation button on the air conditioning system. But many of us are unsure when to use it.

The simple answer is to use it in the summer and turn it off in the winter.

With the recirculation button, the air from inside the vehicle is simply circulated back into the cabin instead of drawing in fresh air from outside.

When you don’t allow cooler air to circulate into the cabin on scorching hot days like today, the air conditioning system draws in hot air from outside and tries to cool it.

Using the recirculation function makes your car cooler and reduces wear on your air conditioning system.

By the way: If your car has been baking in the sun, you should roll down the windows and turn off the recirculation function for the first minute or so to get rid of the super hot air inside the car before turning on the recirculation function.

Also, every time you’re stuck in traffic (summer or winter), you should use the recirculation function.

When you draw in air from outside, all pollutants and carbon monoxide from traffic are sucked in.

Studies show that the recirculation function can reduce the pollutants entering your vehicle by 20% when you’re stuck in traffic!
